Printing Method
I considered a few options when settling on a print method for my book, so that I could feasibly get something printed, even if I wasn’t able to stick to my original timeframe.
If I managed to get ahead on schedule and have a couple weeks worth of time to spare, I would send off the panels to Mixum AB who could format and print a run of 50 for a fairly reasonable price. Needless to say, this option didn’t work out, although I am looking forward to contacting Mixum AB for future projects.
Failing all else, I had a stash of various weights of paper and the means to produce and bind my own copy at home in a zine format, although this particular option I was trying to avoid as I really wanted to print a full-fledged book rather than another zine.
I ended up getting the book printed locally, at Prom Print in Cheltenham. They had incredibly fast one-day printing, so after giving them my specifications, I was able to pick up a finished book the afternoon after I ordered it. I opted for slightly thicker quality paper, a “perfect” or glue bound spine, a paperback cover, and, to ensure major smudging wouldn’t occur I went for a matte finish. I was extremely pleased with the thoughtfulness and care they showed my work, as well as the quick turn around time, and will definitely revisit them for printing work in the future.
