Concepts for a shopkeep npc, our heroes' mysterious "prize". A wooden doll that's somehow been incorporated into part of a tree. This one seems to be inhabited by a friendly dryad, unlike some of the other sylvan monstrosities plaguing Shoaling and the surrounding territories. It wears a market booth as a shell to try as best it can to not unsettle its customers.

Before I got started, I wanted to focus on solidifying the basic plot of my graphic novel. The story follows a band of ragtag scavengers on their quest to recover an artefact being hoarded by a rival party known as the Luck Scav.

Their motive for stealing it is simple; "They have something we don't, therefore we want it. We don't know what it does, but they have it, so we want it."

The most glaring problem is that plague season is near. It's probably a bad idea to race against time for this item. The team, however, have considered this and responded with a strong rebuttal; "They've got something, we want something. So we're doing it anyway."

An additional problem is that Luck Scav is essentially a cult. They claim to be able to gain mysterious powers, but that's thought to be an old wives' tale. But some of these powers are based in...something a little realer than our "heroes" would like.

As it stands, the graphic novel is set to be about 20-28 pages in length, about the size of a short comic installation, rather than a larger book, which could range from one to two hundred pages. This way, the reader can get a glimpse into the world of Shoaling, and I can complete a comic without giving myself carpal tunnel.
